Whether you’re a new dad, an older dad or planning something for the favorite dad in your life, you’ll want to know what’s going on in Austin for Father’s Day. We’ve got the scoop!
Does Dad like Whiskey? Then treat him to Whiskey 101 – a class that covers all he’ll ever need to know. Held on June 17 from 5-7pm, this introductory two-hour shindig will feature bourbon, rye and scotch. In between shop talk, you’ll get to taste each type, as well as make creative cocktails of your own based on the customized curriculum. Bar tools will be provided during the workshop, as well as light bites. You will leave with a foundation in whiskeys, as well as recipes and a list of bar tools needed in order to keep the party going at home! It’s open to everyone, including dads! 21+ only. $60/person; $110/twosome (Save $10).
Is Dad good with his hands? Then check out the Blue Owl Father’s Day Terrarium Class on June 18th from 11:30am-1:30pm. Dads can embrace their inner creative sides with this dinosaur terrarium class at Blue Owl Brewing. Local succulent connoisseur Martha Breed will lead the class while dads enjoy glasses of brew. Participants will leave Blue Owl with a desk-friendly dinosaur, a Blue Owl Brewing glass to enjoy a cold one on the patio later on, and reassurance that it’s still OK to play with dinosaurs every once in a while.
Or perhaps Dad likes cars. If so, there’s the Road Relics’ Antique Car Show on June 18th from 12-4pm. If you still call your dad with car questions anytime something goes wrong, chances are a wannabe mechanic raised you. Show him your appreciation for the long, frantic phone calls this Father’s Day with Motor Texas’ antique car show. All cars must be from before 1992, so let him relish in nostalgia while you nod your head and pretend to know exactly what he’s talking about. More than 350 automobiles were displayed at their last Father’s Day Antique Automobile Show, and there were a lot of spectators dropping in to see the cars.
Finally, if you just want food – food, glorious food, hit up Juniper’s Weinie Roast on June 18th from 1-6pm. Four words sure to please dad: All you can eat. This Sunday, bond with the family over unlimited quantities of delicious food at Juniper’s all-you-can-eat feast. The Texan-Italian inspired restaurant will serve up a hog roast, backyard cheeseburgers, Italiano sausage dogs, panzanella salad, and of course, kegs of beer. It’s a dad’s dream.
Whatever you do for Father’s Day here in Austin, have fun and treat Dad to the best day ever!
